LG tries again with curved smartphone (CES 2015)

Electronics firm LG has shown off a second
version of its curved smartphone at the
Consumer Electronics Show.

The LG G Flex 2 is smaller than its predecessor and its display can now handle high-definition images.
The "self-healing" coating on its rear has also been improved to quickly repair any scratches it suffers.

Gadget-watchers were divided over the phone, with some praising its performance while others were unimpressed.

LG has not said when the phone will go on sale nor said how much it will cost.

Curved questions

The updated G Flex has an OLED (organic light-emitting diode) display 5.5in (14cm) in size - a half-inch smaller than the original - and the curve of the whole device is less pronounced than the first version.

Deployed: Alpinestars Tech-Air Street airbag
vest

The system is designed to improve a rider's
torso protection in a crash. (Alpinestars)

Though some motorcyclists wear little more
than swimsuits, most try to temper their
desire for two-wheeled exhilaration with a
dose of self-regard.

Alpinestars, the cycle-sports outerwear
company, seems to have scored one for the
safety-minded. The company – with offices in
northern Italy, Los Angeles and Tokyo – has
developed an airbag system that cushions
riders’ torsos in case of a crash.

The world’s first supermodel: Evelyn Nesbit

Evelyn Nesbit achieved great fame more than
a century ago as a model. She revolutionised
cultural life, writes Lindsay Baker.

What makes a supermodel? A preternatural
beauty, of course, but there is more – a
certain charisma, an unerring fashion instinct,
a steely resilience, sex appeal. And a mere
model becomes a ‘super’ when she becomes
not only stratospherically famous, but also
when she somehow encapsulates her era. The
supermodel provides a snapshot of a moment
in time because she is always at the epicentre
of the fashionable cultural life of her time –
and at its vanguard. Every decade has their
supers, from impish, mini-skirted,
swinging-‘60s icons Jean Shrimpton and
Twiggy to quirky Cara Delevingne today.

But the phenomenon goes back further than
Twiggy, to the very start of the 20th Century,
when the world’s first ever supermodel rose to
fame. Evelyn Nesbit, a willowy, copper-haired
beauty from Philadelphia, was the most
sought-after artists’ and fashion model in
America’s Gilded Age. Her life was turbulent
and eventful, and her fame peaked when she
became embroiled in a murder, and what was
then dubbed ‘the trial of the century’.

Alcatel Announces Phones Able to Run Android, Firefox OS and Windows Phone

My long awaiting request is always here, imagine a device with the capability to run multiple OPERATING SYSTEM (OS).

Most personal computers can run multiple
operating systems right out of the box.
However, things get a bit trickier when
considering smartphones. Only a few
devices can run more than one OS and this
is usually achieved through some really
advanced reverse engineering and hacking.
Alcatel, which recently acquired the Palm
brand, has started the year with a big
announcement. The OEM is going to release
its new Pixi 3 phone series able to run three
operating systems independently: Android,
Windows Phone, and Firefox OS. The Pixi 3
comes in four variants: three LTE models

India 'jihadi' web blocking causes anger

Some argue the blocks are at odds with India's
hope of becoming a major technology hub
A government block on more than 30 high-
profile websites has caused anger across India.
India's Department of Telecoms ordered the
blocking of the sites in order to prevent the
publicising of "jihadi activities".
After considerable pressure, four of the sites -
Weebly, Vimeo, Daily Motion and Github - were
unblocked.
Officials said the other sites would have their
blocks lifted if they complied with the "law of
the land".
The Indian Ministry for Communication and
Information Technology said in a statement: "It
was stated that Anti National group are using
social media for mentoring Indian youths to
join the Jihadi activities."
It went on to say that the primary concern was
that users posting material on the sites did not
require any authentication, and that identities
could be hidden.
The four websites that have been unblocked
were said to have worked with the Indian
government to address concerns - although it
is unclear what changes, if any, have been
made.

Fingerprint 'cloned from photos' by hacker

Technology will not stop to amaze me, there is no limit to one can achieve when it comes to technology and hackers out there are really exploiting it in a great way while others are really taking advantage.

A member of the Chaos Computer Club (CCC) hacker network claims to have

cloned a thumbprint of a German politician by using commercial software and

images taken at a news conference.

Jan Krissler says he replicated the fingerprint of defence minister Ursula von der

Leyen using pictures taken with a "standard photo camera".

Mr Krissler had no physical print from Ms von der Leyen.

Fingerprint biometrics are already considered insecure, experts say.

ABOUT SUPERUSER APP

ABOUT SUPERUSER APP

In computing, the SUPERUSER is a special user account used for system administration. Depending on the operating system(OS), the actual name of this account might be:root, administrator, admin or supervisor. In some cases the actual name is not significant, rather an authorization flag in the user's profile determines if administrative functions can be performed. In OSes which have the concept of a superuser, it is generally recommended that most application work be done using an ordinary account which does not have the ability to make system-wide changes.

SUPERUSER IN ANDROID OS

Every ANDROID device user wants their device rooted, And when it comes to
rooting and android device, the word SUPERUSER always pop-up.

Superuser is the app that manages what apps on your rooted device have access to su. Apps that are granted su have elevated permissions and can modify just about any part of the system. The app was originally written by zinx, and I took it and made it much more useable. The app consists of two parts, Superuser.apk and the su binary.Superuser.apk runs as any other app and gives you, the user, a place to see what apps you have allowed or denied, as well as view a log of what apps have used su when. The su binary is what other apps call when they need superuser rights.

Ibadan – A Geneticist at the University of
Ibadan, Dr Morufat Balogun, on Sunday said
Nigeria produced 70 per cent of the yam grown
annually and globally.
Balogun, who is also a researcher at the
International Institute of Tropical Agriculture
(IITA), Ibadan, said this in an interview in
Ibadan.
She said while Nigeria grew 70 per cent of yam
annually, other countries shared the remaining
30 per cent.
She said that between 37 and 40 million of
metric tons of yam were produced in the world
annually.
“Nigeria alone produces 70 per cent of yam
every year all over the world, the remaining 30
per cent is shared among Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire,
Togo and Benin Republic,” Balogun said.
She said in some areas in Southern America,
some varieties of the commodity were also
produced adding that the production of yam
both for import and export largely depended on
Nigeria.
